Gutter cleaning, repair and replacement

A blocked or leaking gutter lets water run down the facade. That causes damp patches, green algae and, over time, damage to brickwork and timber.

We clean gutters, repair leaking seams and replace gutters that are worn out, from zinc hanging gutters to uPVC and box gutters.

Signs that your gutter needs attention

  • The gutter overflows in an ordinary shower
  • Water drips down the facade or at the seams
  • The gutter sags or is crooked
  • Green algae or damp patches on the facade below the gutter
  • Plants or moss growing out of the gutter

Approach

How we tackle it

  1. Clean and check

We remove leaves and dirt from the gutter, flush the downpipe and check the seams, brackets and fall.

  2. Repair

We repair leaking seams and corners and refix brackets, so the water runs to the outlet again.

  3. Replace where needed

If the gutter is worn out, we replace it with a new one made to measure, including brackets and the connection to the downpipe.

Costs

What determines the price?

We do not quote amounts here: without a survey of your roof that would be guesswork. The quote itemises the costs, so you can see what the total is made up of.

  • Length of the gutter and number of corners
  • Cleaning, repairing or replacing
  • Material: zinc, uPVC or a lined box gutter
  • Height and access
  • Repairs to the timber under the gutter

Frequently asked questions

Questions about gutters

How often should a gutter be cleaned?

At least once a year, preferably in autumn after the leaves have fallen. If there are trees close to the house, twice a year is sensible.

Zinc or uPVC?

Zinc lasts a long time and suits many houses. uPVC is cheaper and needs little maintenance. We advise what suits your house and the existing drainage.

My box gutter leaks. Does it have to come out?

Not always. A box gutter can often be relined, for example with bitumen or zinc, if the timber underneath is still sound. We assess that on site.
