Ridge tile repair: the top of your roof sealed again
Ridge tiles close off the top of a tiled roof. If they are bedded in mortar, that mortar weathers over time. The tiles start to move, gaps appear and in strong wind rain gets in.
We repair the ridge and, where that makes sense, replace the mortar with a dry-fix system with a ventilated ridge seal and mechanically fixed ridge tiles.
Signs that the ridge needs attention

How we tackle it
Assess the ridge
We inspect the ridge, the hips and the tiles underneath, and check whether the ridge tiles can be reused.
Tiles off, base cleaned
We remove all of the old mortar. Broken ridge tiles are replaced with matching ones.
Relay
In a dry-fix system with a ridge seal and clips, or in mortar again if the roof calls for it. You hear in advance which of the two and why.

Dry-fix or mortar: which is better?
A dry-fix system with a ventilated ridge seal lasts longer, lets the roof breathe and the ridge tiles are fixed mechanically. Mortar sometimes suits an old or listed roof better. We advise per roof.
Can my old ridge tiles go back?
If they are intact, yes. That saves money and keeps the look of the roof the same. Broken ridge tiles are replaced with matching ones.
How long does the repair take?
For an average house the ridge is usually repaired within a day. If scaffolding is needed or there are many hips, it can take longer.
